Transportation Services supports the University’s academic and research mission by providing faculty, staff, students, and visitors with safe, sustainable, customer-focused, and fiscally sound transportation programs and services.
The Department of Transportation Services, within the Finance and Administration division, provides a variety of programs and services that help students, faculty, staff and visitors use all available modes of travel to access the university and to further its academic and research mission. We strive to provide superior customer service, innovation, and stewardship in a professional, efficient and courteous manner.
Whether you are looking to share a ride, rent a 12-passenger van, find a map of carpool parking spaces, rent a locker for your bike, buy a parking permit, or learn where to catch the Beaver Bus, the department is ready to help.
Transportation Services is committed to providing commute options that reduce the number of single-occupant vehicle (SOV) trips to and from OSU. In partnership with other departments, we support OSU’s goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Transportation Services continues to develop and implement incentives and rewards for individuals who walk, bike, or share aride (bus, carpool & vanpool) to campus.
The Motor Pool has over 450 vehicles in its fleet available for rent. More than 230 of those may be rented for short-term and seasonal needs. The fleet ranges from medium-sized sedans to minivans, cargo vans, and large flatbed trucks. Two locations in Corvallis and Eugene serve Oregon State University and the University of Oregon, as well as many outside agencies.
The advantages of renting vehicles from the Motor Pool include convenient pick-up and drop-off locations in Corvallis and Eugene, quality vehicle maintenance, competitive rental rates, a broad selection of vehicles, and parking privileges in all commuter zone parking lots on the Corvallis campus and all spaces at the University of Oregon.
The OSU Beaver Bus is the free campus shuttle that transports people from more remote parking areas to and around campus. During the academic year, four buses travel on three routes Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Sharing your commute, or simply using a car occasionally without owning one, is a great way to save money. Transportation Services works with DriveLess.Connect to help you connect with others to share carpool and vanpool rides. Zipcar vehicles are parked on campus available for rent by the hour, giving you part-time access to a vehicle. SafeRide, run by ASOSU, provides free van rides to students at night as needed.
The Parking unit establishes parking rules and regulations, distributes parking permits, maintains campus parking facilities (over 6,000 spaces) and issues parking violations.
For those who need to drive, we provide a variety of parking options in terms of location, price, and length of time to park. Ask us about parking by the hour, day, month, or year.
Our field representatives work hard to ensure that people who purchase parking permits are able to find an available space when they need it. They also help vehicle owners by calling when they notice lights left on, flat tires, broken windows, etc. They can help you jumpstart your vehicle or happily give directions to any campus location. The parking enforcement program is not a revenue generating operation. The fines collected cover the expense of providing this service.
We can also help coordinate parking for events and provide emergency traffic control.
We partner with other departments to help provide bicycle parking and bike lockers on campus.
Transportation Services offers the Beaver Bike Rental program and is working to bring Pedal Corvallis bike share stations to campus.
Transportation Services coordinates OSU’s agreements and service funding for the Corvallis Transit System, Linn-Benton Loop, and Philomath Connection.
