Emergency Ride Home is a free service from Cascades West Rideshare providing OSU workers and student workers a trip home by taxi or rental car in the case of a personal or family emergency.

What are the eligibility requirements for enrolling in Emergency Ride Home?

  • Be a member of Drive Less Connect (no cost).
  • Be employed in Benton, Linn, or Lincoln County.
  • Have not commuted to work in in a personal automobile on the day you need to use Emergency Ride Home.
  • Make a trip to an eligible destination: personal residences, transit stops, medical facilities, or the location of a personal vehicle.
  • Vanpool members should contact their vanpool vendor for their own emergency ride programs.
  • OSU employees employed in Marion, Polk, and Yamhill counties should contact Cherriots Rideshare at 503-371-7665.
  • OSU employees employed in the Eugene/Springfield metropolitan area should contact Point2point at 541-682-6213.

1. Create a Drive Less Connect Account.
2. Fill out your profile. Be sure to list a work address in an eligible county.
3. After you've completed your profile, navigate to "Commute Services" in the navigation bar, then “Enroll Now”, and follow the given directions.
4. New enrollments take 1-2 business days to process, so enroll now!

1. Navigate to the Drive Less Connect website, then "Commute Services."
2. Select "Request Emergency Ride Home." (Limit is two per employee per year).
3. Complete the requested information and print your voucher.
4. Call a taxi service if:

a. Your trip is less than 20 miles OR
b. The Enterprise Rent-A-Car office is closed (see table below) OR
c. You are unable to drive

5. Otherwise, rent a car via the nearest Enterprise Rent-A-Car Office.

  • You must provide a valid driver’s license and credit card for confirmation and incidentals.
  • There is no charge until 150 miles; extra miles are charged at $0.20/mile.
  • Document the destination and emergency-related stops in the “Additional Notes” section on the voucher.
  • The voucher must be signed by your work supervisor or list their name and phone number.
  • Submit the voucher to the Enterprise staff.
  • Keep a receipt from the taxi service with cost, mileage, date, and taxi service name or ask the driver to list that information on the voucher under “To be completed by service provider.”
  • Document the destination and emergency-related stops in the “Additional Notes” section on the voucher.
  • Within two weeks, mail the voucher signed by your supervisor to: Cascades West Rideshare, 1400 Queen Ave SE Suite 205A, Albany OR 97322
  • Reimbursements are capped at $50 and require 1-2 weeks processing.
