When arriving to campus by car, truck or motorcycle you will need a parking permit Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., year-round. Residential permits are required in R lots at all times, year-round.

Permits for apartment residents living in The GEM are sold on a 1-space to 1-permit basis throughout the fiscal/academic year, subject to availability. Campus residents are eligible for one (1) parking permit for a maximum of one (1) vehicle on campus.

  • Faculty or staff who live in The GEM apartments.
Duration of permit:
  • One year. Valid July 1 each year through June 30 the following year. Expires on June 30 each year.

  • Groups with a minimum of two (2) students, faculty or staff who do not live on campus who agree to ride together.
  • Maximum of six (6) members.
  • Ineligible: on-campus residents and visitors.
Additional Restrictions:
  • Carpool members are unable to purchase individual Annual or Monthly commuter A, B or C zone permits, but can purchase daily permits.
  • Permit must be paid by all parties before it can be issued.
Duration of permit:
  • One year. Valid once paid in full by all carpool members. Expires the day before the start of the following fall term annually.

Campus Resident Parking Permits

Permits for campus residents are sold on a 1-space to 1-permit basis throughout the term, subject to availability. Campus residents are eligible for one (1) parking permit for a maximum of one (1) vehicle on campus.

  • Faculty or staff who reside on campus.
Duration of permit:
  • One term. Valid first day of the term for Spring, Winter and Summer terms. Fall term permits are valid once purchased. Expires the day before the start of the following term.
Permit Renewals and Wait lists:
  • Permits are made available in Fall Term. Anyone with a Fall Term Permit will have an opportunity to renew the permit for Winter Term before permits are made available to non-permit holders.
  • Anyone with a Winter Term Permit will have an opportunity to renew the permit for Spring Term before permits are made available to non-permit holders.
  • There is no renewal opportunity for Summer Term.
  • Wait lists are established for each term permit, and are reset before the following term permits go on sale.

Private Parking Space Permits

A Private Parking Space is for the use of an individual holding a specific university position. The university limits the number of Private Parking Spaces to manage the campus parking supply. Use of Private Parking Spaces results in costs to the university by reducing the inventory of spaces available for sharing with others, reducing a departments available spending on other resources, and impacting the university’s ability to reach its sustainable transportation and carbon reduction goals.

Positions Authorized for Private Parking Spaces:

The Vice President for Finance and Administration determines the limited selection of positions that are eligible for a Private Parking Space. His or her determination is based on the position’s requirement to frequently travel using their personal automobile during business hours as a condition of their employment, and for the convenience of the university to minimize costs associated with lost time and/or productivity.

  • These legacy parking spaces are no longer available for purchase. Existing spaces may be renewed on an annual basis at the discretion of the Director of Transportation Services.

Community Permits are issued to community members in particular elected or appointed positions for specific campus parking areas.

Beaver Card

The Beaver Card may be used as a supplemental permit to your current OSU parking permit on your personal vehicle, and will allow you to park in any A, B, or C zone while renting an Motor Pool Vehicle. Just place the Beaver Card on your dashboard, and ensure you have a current A, B or C zone permit.
